Huyse den Weyngaert has an extensive and colorful historical context. The building is an amalgamation of four different houses from the 17th century: De Cleynen A.B., Oraengie Appel, De Grooten A.B.C. and Gratie Godts.

During the past centuries, the building has housed various enterprises, such as a joinery, a store warehouse, a bakery and a restaurant. Today, there are new shops on the ground floor as well.

The Wijngaardstraat, constructed in the 13th century, is one of the city’s most beautiful and picturesque streets, with a wide range of shops and catering businesses. The neighboring Hoofdkerkstraat and Moriaanstraat are also typical 16th century cozy cobbled streets from the old Antwerpian history.

This quiet pedestrian neighborhood contains a lot of historical places as well: right next to the house is the Conscienceplein with the famous Saint Carolus Borromeus church. The Groenplaats and the Grote Markt (Great Market Square) with the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal (Cathedral of Our Lady) are within walking distance, as are the city’s old and commercial centers. A splendid time guaranteed!
